چکیده

Rehabilitation of the edentulous maxilla with implants has been complicated by the presence of atrophic maxillary alveolar ridges, which require an alternative to the traditional parallel placement of adjacent implants in order to avoid anatomic structures or bone augmentation. This issue of Report on Prosthodontics discusses the use of tilted distal implants in treatment planning for the edentulous maxilla.

Photoelastic analysis of all-on-four concept using different implants angulations for maxilla.

Conventional tilted implants are used in oral rehabilitation for heavily absorbed maxilla to avoid bone grafts; however, few research studies evaluate the biomechanical behavior when different angulations of the implants are used. The aim of this study was evaluate, trough photoelastic method, two different angulations and length of the cantilever in fixed implant-supported maxillary complete d...

Methods to treat the edentulous posterior maxilla: implants with sinus grafting.

Prosthetic rehabilitation of the edentulous posterior maxilla with implant-supported prostheses frequently presents a challenge for the oral surgeon because of the lack of bone due to alveolar ridge resorption or maxillary sinus pneumatization. To overcome these problems, different solutions were proposed over the years, such as the use of short implants or tilted implants (including zygoma imp...

Immediate rehabilitation of the edentulous jaws with full fixed prostheses supported by four implants: interim results of a single cohort prospective study.

OBJECTIVES The purpose of this study was to prospectively evaluate the clinical and radiographic outcomes of immediately loaded full-arch fixed prostheses supported by a combination of axially and non-axially positioned implants in a large cohort of patients with completely edentulous jaws, up to 5 years of function. MATERIALS AND METHODS One hundred and seventy-three edentulous patients (80 ...

Outcome of short implants as an alternative to sinus lift surgery and standard-length implants for rehabilitation of atrophic posterior maxilla: A clinical trial

Background and Aims: The aim of this study was to assess the outcome of short implants (<8 mm length) as an alternative to sinus lift surgery and placement of standard-length implants (10-12 mm length) for rehabilitation of atrophic posterior maxilla. Materials and Methods: In this prospective clinical trial, 26 patients with 6-7 mm of residual alveolar bone height in their atrophic posterior ...

Journal of Dentistry and Oral Care

Background: A minimum of four implants should be used in edentulous maxillae to anchor a dental prosthesis. A wide anterior/posterior distribution of the implants is advantageous. Besides bone grafting, short or tilted implants are used to achieve this in atrophic edentulous maxillae. The implants define a polygon that should be as large as possible. This study investigated the differences in t...
